The Volcan Wines Winery and Wine Museum are located in Vothonas, on the scenic road leading to Kamari Beach. Established in 1870 by brothers Gregory and Dimitris Koutsogiannopoulos, this family-run legacy is now proudly managed by the fourth generation, George Koutsogiannopoulos.
While modern stainless steel machinery has replaced historical tools, the winemaking still takes place in a building that balances traditional Santorini style with modern infrastructure. This site also houses the extraordinary underground Cave Wine Museum.
Situated 8 meters underground and stretching 300 meters in a fascinating labyrinth, this museum captures the history of wine and the lives of Santorini’s vine-growers from 1660 to 1970. Visitors can explore this heritage through detailed representations and automated private guidance available in nine languages.
